I still don’t think May knows Aida is an AI.
The way I took it is this: here is a person that took care of May… nursed her back to health, and May didn’t want to kill her at the end. To May, that is an ideal human being. She is surprised that she thinks an ideal human being could actually exist!
Of course, Aida is a robot/android, so May getting along with it makes a lot of sense to us-the viewer, but not to May.
