Thursday, December 10, 2020 will go down in history as the day Disney broke the internet, asserted its media dominance, and made a lot of fangirls and boys super happy.
They announced a LOT of things. Some completely new and some we knew about but with new details. Our next Welcome to Level Seven podcast episode will be a deep dive into the announcements early next week.
Here's a list of most of the announcements: https://www.theverge.com/2020/12/10/22167976/disney-investor-day-2020-biggest-announcements-plus-marvel-star-wars-pixar-animation
But here are all the trailers they released! Check them out! They look amazing!
LOKI – Apparently there's going to be some time travel shenanigans and huge, epic adventure. There's a bit of a Time Bandits vibe going on here . . .
FALCON AND WINTER SOLDIER – This one just looks like a movie. Interesting that the “next phase” of Marvel is in streaming . . .
WANDAVISION – We'll get this series first, which is another interesting development. We were supposed to get some movies before and around this release. And this is tying into a movie that has been pushed back a year or so. But this trailer looks bizarre and mind bending and fun. I'm glad it's coming sooner rather than later.
WHAT IF…? – This summer, one of my favorite comic book concepts (the WHAT IF…? series from Marvel) gets to make the jump to the streaming screen! The idea WAS (not sure if it's changed since the initial announcement) to do an episode for each movie, and the stories follow one difference that sends the story we all know and love off on another trajectory. I'm not a fan of the animation style, so I'm hoping it grows on me as we see more . . .
MS MARVEL – One of the few newer breakout hits in comics, Ms Marvel looks like it could be this generation's Spider-Man. A young hero with real world problems who has to deal with super powers. Former co-host Daniel Butcher loves this character. I'm not very familiar, but it looks good.
