Hawkeye vs Deadpool #2 (Comic Files)

November 25, 2014 by Daniel Butcher Leave a Comment

Hawkeye vs Deadpool #2

Preamble

Gerry Duggan has the boys hot on the trail of Job in Hawkeye vs Deadpool #2, wait that is Tom Cruise. I really do love the idea of Hawkeye and Deadpool teaming up since they can be so dang funny! So I am ready to sit back, relax and take in the punny and some action too.

Situation Report

The Hawkeyes and Deadpool make plans with S.H.I.E.L.D. to track down the missing list of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and their most personal information. The boys, and their highly successful Hawkeye sidekick, attempt to trap Black Cat and her gang before they can grab the list. And of course, fighty fighty breaks out on the page after some funny reflections by Deadpool. Along with fighting the bad guys they also attempt to acquire the list themselves. The Hawkeyes also get to know the more human side of Deadpool, and it is interesting! Deadpool reveals to the archers why he is with them until the end of the adventure, and if you do not cry you are dead inside! Finally the issue shocks with a shockingly shocking shock ending.

Level Seven Analysis

As I continually mention I really think Gerry Duggan was born to write Deadpool! And in this issue Deadpool asks the Avenger questions that many of us have probably considered. So Hawkeye, you had some super cool toys…where are they now? Why would you ever quit using the super cool toys? This is clearly an error on your part. If I had super cool toys, I would never let them leave my side! Deadpool hits it on the head, Hawkeye must have an interesting storage locker!

But while Duggan is able to bring the funny, he also brings heart with Deadpool. For a character that is so quirky and strange there is a heart to him. Duggan uses Kate Bishop to speak for us about the fact that Deadpool has some fairly normal aspects to his life. And when you read why Deadpool is staying with besides the Hawkeyes, well it is heartfelt and one of the most basic motivations for taking on the good fight.

Conclusion

That shocking ending was shocking. Actually next month when I reveal it to all of you most agents will call out that it was not that shocking. But in the midst of the fighty fighty, the fun, the heart and the Hawkeyes…well I never saw it coming! So let us get to next month because I want to see what’s next for our punny duo!
