Hawkeye vs Deadpool #3 (Comic Files)

January 13, 2015 by Daniel Butcher Leave a Comment

Hawkeye vs. Deadpool #3

Preamble
In our last shocking episode (or issue), Hawkeye turned against Deadpool.  Yes, Hawkeye vs Deadpool #3 by Gerry Duggan officially lives up to the title!  So let us go get our fighty fighty on agents!

Situation Report
Hawkeye has the flash drive with all of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s personal information and he is making a break of it through the streets of New York by bike.  Hawkeye (Kate Bishop) and not Hawkeye (Deadpool) are in pursuit!  They must stop Hawkeye from getting the drive to Black Cat (who clearly will release all of Sony’s important details to the world).  But they cannot do anything necessary to do it.  Because in his drone state, Hawkeye becomes suicidal if the good guys get too close.  Can they get to Hawkeye and stop the leak of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s information before the train leaves the Chunnel and Black Cat can reach out to the cloud (totally made up the part about the train)?

Level Seven Analysis
So let me be honest.  There is not really a lot of “story” here.  It really is as simple as it sounds.  Wade and Kate chase Clint.  Now there are plenty of hijinks.  But that is the essential story.  And though the story sounds simple, I will admit I did find myself laughing out loud at one moment.  So score for Duggan.

We get a lot of Kate/Deadpool time here.  And as it often seems with Kate, the moments are enjoyable.  The two tease each other with a nice back-and-forth.  And Kate makes it clear that she is Hawkeye, Deadpool can take any other nicknames he has for her and just toss them out the window.

Oh Clint.  The story gives us a nice flashback and we discover that Clint has been under Black Cat’s power for awhile now.  Though we are left with the question of how well her brainwashers did the job.

When Deadpool calls in the big guns, he means it.  And I think Kate is liking it!

Conclusion
Deadpool vs Hawkeye has one final installment for us to examine.  And I assume at that time we can resolve Mission Impossible as we discover that Black Cat is actually a beloved pop culture icon turned bad.  Wait a minute, isn’t that exactly what Dan Slott did to her?
